Our Crematory has been owned and operated by Coye’s Funeral Home and is located within the facility.
Choosing cremation is a very personal decision, whether someone is planning their own services, to alleviate their family from that burden, or when family members are choosing cremation as a loving and respectful way to memorialize their loved one.
As time progressed in Belize cremation has now become acceptable due to personal and religious reasons.
There are several types of cremation services available.
Cremation following a standard service of remembrance, or celebration of life, with a casket.
Traditionally, a burial service involves a visitation, followed by a funeral service in a church, funeral home, or another place of worship. The casket is typically present at both these events, and it is your decision on whether to have the casket open or not.
Decisions need to be made on whether the body needs to be embalmed, what kind of casket to use, what cemetery to use and what to put on the gravestone.
Most people are familiar with the concept of burial or "interment" but may not be aware of the variety of options that are often available.
Agencies will only accept certified copies of death certificates and not photocopies.
Copies of certified death certificates can be obtained by applying at the Belize Vital Statistics.
It is important to note that a medical death certificate and a certified death certificate are to completely separate certificates.
A medical death certificate is a certificate that is issued by a doctor detailing the cause of death and other important information. This certificate must be provided to the funeral home before any transportation, burial, or cremation can be done. After the service has been done the original medical certificate must be taken to the registry to be registered, and must be registered in which ever district the certificate was issued. Once registered then the family can apply for a certified death certificate or the family can request that the Funeral Home applies for the certified certificate on their behalf.
Before the business and legal affairs of the estate can be pursued, it will be necessary to obtain death certificates. It is always better to order a few more death certificates than you think you need.
